As faculty, we are committed to a world where dialogue, love and peace, guide our societies and cultures. We understand that equality, justice and respect for our global interdependence are required in order for peace to prevail, and that injustice harms us all, directly and indirectly. Millions around the world have rallied for Woman Life Freedom since young Mahsa Amini’s tragic death in 2022.
Today, we stand again with the people in Iran who are in the streets courageously asserting their freedom, refusing economic corruption and untenably oppressive conditions. We feel concern for our students and colleagues who are fearful for their loved ones in Iran, largely unreachable due to the communications blackout that has been imposed on the people of Iran. We mourn the thousands of people who have been killed, and we call for the violence to end.
We express our solidarity with the Iranian people’s right to self-determination without imperial intervention.
